About Habitat EKC Construction

Habitat for Humanity is known throughout the world for its unique building model, where volunteers work alongside Habitat families who will purchase and own the completed homes.  Volunteers and future homeowners perform 80-90% of the labor on Habitat EKC homes including foundations, rough carpentry, insulation, siding, interior carpentry, painting, and landscaping.

Habitat EKC receives support from the surrounding community to provide the donated labor, building materials, and money necessary to complete a Habitat home.  The donated labor helps keep overhead costs to a minimum.  Donated building materials either go directly into the homes Habitat EKC builds or are sold through Second Use.  Profits from Second Use sales are funneled back to Habitat EKC to purchase necessary building materials.  Donated money helps pay for the remaining expenses on each house.  Together volunteers, donors, and partner families make this unique building model work.

Habitat EKC builds with green and energy efficient standards to promote healthy sustainable communities. The homes reflect the style of the community in which they are built. The average cost of a HFHEKC home is $100,000 to $120,000.  All Habitat EKC homes are two or more bedrooms with a minimum of two bathrooms.
