Service Description: Habitat for Humanity of East King
County (HFHEKC) is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International,
which operates independently while serving the same mission and goals as
Habitat for Humanity International. The Eastside chapter is one of over
30 Habitat affiliates in Washington State. Our purpose is to build homes
and sell them at no profit to qualified families on the Eastside. We
serve Bellevue, Redmond, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Issaquah, Snoqualmie,
Carnation, Woodinville, and other cities east of Seattle. Our goal is to
lay a foundation for a stronger community by working with people who are
dedicated to building a better life for themselves. To achieve this
goal, we depend on donated land, labor, money, and materials from
individuals, faith communities, and local businesses. We accept
government funding only in the form of land donations or funding for
land acquisition and development. Volunteers of all skill levels work
together with the homeowners and Habitat staff in a cooperative
partnership to construct our homes. This is a fun and rewarding way to
spend the day. Our AmeriCorps Program by large supports HFH EKC's
volunteer program by coordinating and facilitating volunteers onsite, in
the office, and volunteers that support the families that purchase our
homes.
